Bio

Ben Klock is a German DJ and music producer whose name is often associated to those of Berghain and Ostgut Ton: he is, in fact, resident of the infamous Berlin club and artist of one of the most renowned techno labels of the industry. He is also the owner of Klockworks and is a great producer as well as remixer, as demonstrated by his discography. His ability to understand the crowd and adapt his sound to it has brought him on some of the most important stages around the world, such as Time Warp, Awakenings Festival and Tomorrowland, plus several appearances on the Boiler Room live streaming sets. His groove is captivating, mesmerizing, and brings you into a journey of techno accompanied by the typical sensibility of house music, which makes his sets some of the most acclaimed of the scene. Ben Klock was born on the 13th of March 1972 in Berlin, Germany. It's here that he started his career, becoming the resident of Berghain in 2004, the year in which the techno institution was inaugurated. Showing and improving his ability on the mix with marathon sets, he established himself at the foreground of Berlin’s modern techno movement, that of the raw and dark beats. In a moment during which Richie Hawtin’s minimal sound was setting the pace in the scene, he launched his own label Klockworks, on which he released his more raw and minimal work. It was 2006 and, over the years, the label shifted towards techno, becoming more of a platform, a medium thanks to which he could present his own personal taste, while supporting emerging talents. Artists such as DVS1, Etapp Kyle and Trevino had several releases on the label in the early stages of their career. Most of his early techno works were released on Ostgut Ton, the record label of Berghain, and are now landmarks in the label’s history. His first collaboration with Marcel Dettmann in 2009, brought to the creation of “Dawning”, which kickstarted Ostgut Ton and is one of the most known tracks of its discography. In the same year, his ‘Before One’ EP was released on the Berghain label, and his track “Subzero” is now one of the key tracks of modern techno. In 2010, he also released ‘Compression Session’ EP, but what really showcased his ability as a producer was his album ‘One’. His skills as a remixer brought him to rework tracks from many different artists among whom Depeche Mode, Martyn, Robert Hood, Kenny Larkin, Ellen Allien and Kerri Chandler. In 2013 Ben Klock started bringing to some of the best underground clubs of the world his Klockworks' showcases, alongside Marcel Dettmann, Etapp Kyle, Dax J, Ben Sims and more. At the beginning of 2017, the touring evolved into a proper project, Photon. A show thought for a warehouse atmosphere, in which light installations merge with hypnotizing techno beats. The enduring relationship with Berghain, known in the whole electronic music world as the temple of techno, has brought global fame to Ben Klock and has made him one of the most in-demand DJs of the current generation. For the past decade, he has been one of the main characters of the techno scene and still today brings his sound, his Klockworks' showcases and his Photon events on the stages of the best clubs and festivals around the world, setting the pace on the mix, as well as in the industry in general. Moreover, as a ritual which lasts in time, once a month he goes back home in Berlin for his marathon sets at Berghain.
