Remember that MONDAY 21TH OF MAY is a holiday in Spain and there WILL NOT BE THE LESSON!!! We will depart from the Port of Barcelona on Friday night and arrive to Mallorca very early on Saturday morning to enjoy the whole day. We will check into the hotel and have free time to visit the beaches and explore the island. At night, we will go party together to one of the most famous clubs on the island. On Sunday, we will have free time to sunbathe and in the afternoon, we will go on the guided tour through the centre of Palma. At night, we will party and experience the island's nightlife. On Monday, we will leave the hotel in the morning. We will take a ferry and return to Barcelona at night. Why you should visit Mallorca?! Mallorca is the largest island of the Balearic archipelago, which together with Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera, forms an autonomous community (Balearic Islands). The most important activity on the island is tourism, thanks to which, the island receives around 13 million visitors per year. Mallorca is the largest island in Spain and the sixth largest in the Mediterranean. With its 859,289 inhabitants it is also the most populated Balearic island. It used to be known as "The calm island " for its quiet environment, but it has become a very important national and international tourist destination... Palma is the capital of Mallorca and an autonomous community. It has very special features that trap the visitor´s attention thanks to its culture, history and famous nightlife. The city centre is a set of narrow streets intertwined by antique walls of historical buildings. The main attraction of Palma de Mallorca is the cathedral, an example of the Gothic architecture of the Mediterranean. It is situated in the old town. The Puerta del Mirador, the Chapel of the Trinity and the Gothic Museum stand out in its interior. There is also a chapel decorated by the artist Miquel Barceló. It is the most emblematic monument for Mallorca people. Another famous sight is the Castell de Bellver that rises in the Bay of Palma in the middle of a pine forest. It was built by Jaume II in the 14th century. It has a majestic central courtyard surrounded by four cylindrical towers. The forest park together with the castle has become the ideal setting for popular festivals such as "La Fiesta de l'Àngel" after Easter or for sports and cultural events. When you walk through the streets of Palma, its history and culture catches your eye instantly. In the old town there are places like the cafeteria of "Can Joan de S'Aigo" which is a place founded in 1700 where you can taste the most typical products of Mallorcan pastry!!!! The gastronomy of the island is very particular. One of the most popular dishes is “el frito mallorquín” (frit mallorquí), which consists of a fried liver with fries and peppers. Another option is also “el mariner”, whoich consists of a mixture of fish cut into small pieces accompanied by fried potatoes and sea fennel. There are different ways to prepare rice, the most typical is the so-called “arròs brut”, which consists of rice soup with mushrooms, snails, pork, rabbit, poultry and vegetables, although the "arroç sec" is also very traditional and similar to paella. The sausages are also one of the main elements of Mallorca´s cuisine; sobrasada, llonganissa, butifarrón, camaiot and blanquet among others. The sweet dish par excellence is “la ensaimada” that is filled with cream, angel hair (crystallised fruit), chocolate or with raw ham pieces and candied pumpkin. At Easter, empanadas, stuffed with lamb, are essential. They can be made of sweet or salty dough, although salty dough is more common. The "Espinegades" are also typical. Mallorca wines have been well received in other parts of Spain and Europe in recent years. Mallorca has two designations of origin: D.O. Binissalem-Mallorca and D.O. Pla i Llevant, as well as a geographical indication: Vino de la Tierra Mallorca. The most well-known and famous part of the island is "El Arenal" which attracts many visitors looking for beach vacations and nightlife. It is the ideal destination for young people because of its many parties and daily and nightly activities!!!! The beach promenade has an easy route from where it is convenient to explore the coast. It is simply a place to see. The Arenal beach is long, white and sandy, with some palm trees here and there. The main attractions are the nightlife and beach sports!!!!! Also, tourist attractions have been built near Arenal, including a water park that is one of the largest water parks in the world and offers a possibility to enjoy eight hours of water fun!!!! There are also some quiet villages such as Can Pastilla, where you can find "El Palma Aquarium" that imitates the environment and the ecosystems of the living creatures of the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. In another town called Puigderrós you can find tranquillity and many beautiful beaches!! The price of the trip includes: -Ferry Barcelona Port– Mallorca Port -2 nights in Hotel, full board (breakfast, lunch, dinner and FREE ALCOHOL BAR) -Travel Guide for the centre of Palma -Entrance to disco on Saturday night with 1 COCKTAIL -Ferry Mallorca Port- Barcelona Port OPTIONAL: -Entrance to the Cathedral of Palma (6€) -Visit of the Castel of Bellver (Entrance for FREE on Sundays) -Entrance to the water park "AQUALAND" in El Arenal (GROUP DISCOUNT)
