Summer isn’t quite done with ONDA yet. Over at Calathea Beach Club in Caserta, the series is heading into its final stretch, with a few more dates lined up before it calls time on the season.
It’s been a pretty varied summer so far, moving between house, disco, groove and global sounds without making too much of a fuss about where one thing ends and another begins. That’s part of what makes ONDA work at Calathea, the beach club behind Basic Club: the setting does a lot of the talking. You come for the music, then stay because it’s August, so you have nowhere else to be, and add that you’re by the water.
Four more events are underway in the run-up to their season-closing, and the next wave lands for Ferragosto on 15th August, with Dirty Channels, Bulma Brief,Assu and Sexy Pummarola taking over. From there, things shift towards some proper house heritage on 22nd August as Timmy Regisford joins Fabrizio Fattore and Ylenia Del Giudice. Both make sense within the slightly loose, anything-goes approach ONDA has kept throughout the summer.
Then comes the one we’re particularly keeping an eye on. On August 29th, ONDA teams up with PARTYNOTCOM for a night led by The Blessed Madonna. She’s never been particularly interested in staying neatly inside one genre — house, disco, techno and plenty in between, which makes her a pretty natural fit for a series that likes to keep things moving. Fabio Stingo, Gabriele Russo, DJ Freshh, Spinosaa and 2Moon will also be on the bill, taking things from early evening into the night.
And then, on September 5, there’s L’Ultima Onda. The final date of the season has decided to keep its cards close to its chest, with the lineup still under wraps. No names to plan around, just a final ONDA waiting at the end of summer. Which, actually, feels like quite a good way to finish.
For now, though, there’s still time. A few more sunsets, a few more long sets, and a few more excuses to stay at Calathea longer than you planned.
