Zurich, the largest city in Switzerland, has finally recognized the importance of its growing ‘techno culture‘ within its community as ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’ by joining the list of cultural significant traditions found within the UNESCO member states.
UNESCO has established the ‘Intangible Cultural Heritage’ in 2003 with the final aim of protecting all the intangible aspects of the cultures such as traditions, expressions, representations, social practices, rituals and festive events. Indeed, the aim is to encourage mutual respect for different communities, preserve and pass these heritages to future generations.
During an interview with the Swiss newspaper Limmattaler Zeitung, Walter Leimgruber, professor at University of Basel and member of the persuading committee stated,
‘The development of techno culture in Zurich, with Street Parade and a very distinctive club scene, lends Zurich a young, open, hedonistic, and international reputation.’
The biggest outdoor electronic event on the planet and the world’s most beautiful, colorful house and techno parade, the Street Parade, will be taking place around Zurich’s lakeside for the 26 edition this year on the 12of August 2017. Last year, there were 27 incredible wagons parading through the crowd on the legendary Carl Cox abroad.
If you missed the parade last year, do not worry, Street Parade is coming back with an insane line-up packed with international artists like Loco Dice, Jamie Jones, Monika Kruse, Dubfire and Luciano.
