It’s fair to say that somewhere in the mid-2000s, Digitalism were among the artists who made electro, indie and dance music start interacting in the same world. Almost two decades on, the Hamburg duo of Jens Moelle and İsmail Tüfekçi are still working towards something similar. Their latest album, Optimism, arrived in May 2026, and now the pair are bringing the record to Hacienda in Rome on Saturday 17 October as part of its accompanying tour.

There’s plenty of history to draw from. “Idealistic” and “Pogo”, together with Idealism itself, helped establish Digitalism as one of the distinctive acts to emerge from the era’s electro-indie crossover, while their live shows have always intrigued the crowd with the curious intersection of a DJ set and a live gig.
The album Optimism, however, gives the Rome date a new centre of gravity, with the duo taking their latest material back into the wild where their mix of electronics, indie sensibility and club instincts hits the dancefloor once again.
