Call him The Wizard, the Alien, or simply just Jeff, it does not matter. Mr. Mills is, without any doubt, one of those who has written and is still writing the pages of the electronic music history. The fact that this guy has always tried to push himself outside the boundaries of the common knowledge, outside what we know about electronic music, is proof that this producer can be considered a real artist.
And like any artist worthy of the name, the inner creative incentive pushes him to continually improve himself, to experiment and to overcome the hard rock of habit. And it is here where different disciplines coincide, start to interact with each other and give birth to something new, fresh and unusual. Something that apparently does not seem to make much sense, but in reality has a hidden logic that makes everything work perfectly together.
In many different occasions Jeff Mills has tried to collaborate with people from different disciplines to give birth to something not necessarily pleasant but, without any doubt, beautiful and interesting. Jeff Mills appealed to the Japanese dance troupe Dairakudakan to convert his album, Planets, into reality. Furthermore, this artist has announced his new electronic-classical project called ‘Lost in Space’, a collaboration with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. The premiere is set to take place in Toulouse, France, next April 2018 with two live shows where Jeff Mills will perform alongside the orchestra, conducted by Christophe Mangou.
Today, it has been launched a new project called “Jeff Mills: The Outer Limits” that will see the techno legend working side by side with the London-based radio NTS and NASA. This is a six-part radio series whose program has been written, produced and presented by Jeff and that will explore interesting concepts within the realm of physics and astronomy. Intergalactic theories, parallel realities and the “intricacies of time and space”. Needless to say that during the radio program there will be enough space for showcasing his personal productions as well as the work of renown guest musicians who will be invited to his radio sessions together with acclaimed experts operating in the astrophysics field. The first chapter of the radio program titled ‘Black Hole’ is set to air on Wednesday January 17 at 2 pm GMT.
Apparently, after the launch of this radio program, the alien nickname seems to perfectly fit this amazing artist.
