Author of the documentary about Ricardo Villalobos a decade ago, the director Romuald Karmakar has just released his last film pursuing his exploration of the German electronic scene.
After 196 BPM (a film devoted to the 2002 Berlin Love Parade), Between the Devil and the Wide Blue Sea, in which he enters the European electronic scene, then Villalobos one movie for which he has received the exceptional authorization of filming at the Panorama Bar, the Berghain mezzanine, German director Romuald Karmakar is now releasing his new film Denk ich an Deutschland in der Nacht (“When I think of Germany at night”).
The film follows five artists in studio, club and festival (at the Robert Johnson, filmed completely empty, at the Sunwaves festival in Romania …): Ricardo Villalobos, Sonja Moonear, Roman Flügel, Move D and Ata, the founder of the mythical Robert Johnson club in Offenbach; they all share their reflections on the world of electronic music and explain how they work.
