Psychopath alert: are you into rap music?

Know someone who likes Blackstreet or Eminem? Careful, they might be a psychopath.

An American study played 260 songs to 200 people to see how their music taste compared to certain psychopathic traits. It seems that those with a preference for “No Diggity” and “Lose Yourself” scored high in the psychopath test whereas low scores included people with a fancy for tracks by The Knack and Sia.

Now, this is not to say if you like these songs you are 100% a psychopath. After all, these are both awesome tunes, liked by most and not to be missed off of any true rap lover’s playlist. The point of this study was to use music to help doctors identify potential psychopaths by reviewing online playlists. Dr. Pascal Wallisch, the leader of the study, explains “the beauty of this idea is you can use it as a screening test without consent, cooperation or maybe even the knowledge of the people involved”.

Scary, right? Maybe you should have a listen to our October playlist…that’ll throw any psychopath-hunting doctors off your tracks.

But don’t worry, these tests are only “very preliminary” according to Wallisch. So, we are a long way off from having to shamefully hide our love for rap music.

In the mean time, here’s Eminem’s “Lose Yourself”. Just because it’s an absolute tune. Enjoy.
