A new concept has found its way into Barcelona’s club scene. By prioritising the most humane part of why we like to go clubbing, the Belgian-born and Barcelona-based selector Mona Lee has stepped up to spread this repressed craving in the form of a new event series: RAW.
Abiding by a strict philosophy of full presence on the dancefloor, it’s reassuring to know that the real heads in the scene are taking action and pulling the culture back into its authenticity. RAW lands as a space where freedom leads, and phones are banned – where house music returns to its original spirit, and deep connection is not only encouraged but mandatory on the floor.

Starting the initiative, Mona Lee hosts the very first edition on the 22nd May at the Detroit Club in Barcelona. This is an inaugural night that promises a curation that bridges the gap between European club hubs, bringing two Berlin-based heavyweights to play alongside her: Androosh and Mike Starr.
As a resident of the legendary Panorama Bar at Berghain, Starr brings a seasoned perspective on the Berlin edge; a gritty, uncompromising energy that finds a perfect home within the walls of Detroit Club, a venue itself rooted in the industrial influence of the Detroit underground music scene. Together, Mike Starr, Androosh, and Mona Lee will get the crowd moving through a journey of classic house, deep, and acid house.

Said in her own words; “Our dancefloor is your sanctuary. We go back to the RAW: just movement, expression and an open space for deep connection.” This is the sort of drive that makes it feel like music is starting to be appreciated again.
