“We started off as a hidden gem but… I think it’s fair to say we’re not ‘hidden’ anymore — we sold out in just three days!”
That’s how Romina Gerbec, co-founder and co-director of Butik Festival Slovenia, sums it up — with honesty and a big smile. “The name really couldn’t be more accurate,” she says. “We’re simply that: a boutique festival.”

But the truth is, Butik Festival feels like more than that. Born in 2019 — and surviving the pandemic wave like the rest — it’s quickly become one of the most beloved small festivals in Central Europe. All while staying true to its roots: “Since day one, we wanted at least 30% of the line-up to feature Slovenian artists, and when we include acts from neighbouring regions, that figure hits 50%.” And once again, they’ve nailed it.
That means, for their 3,000 attendees (they’re not planning to grow beyond that), about 40% are international — spending five days (Wednesday 9 to Sunday 13 July) discovering over 30 artists they’ve probably never heard of.
Butik 2025 Lineup Highlights
And the rest of the line-up? 2025 welcomes big debuts from names you might know — like Barcelona’s eternal crate-digger John Talabot, the spiritual and dreamy house vibes of Fafi Abdel Nour, genre-bending selector Josey Rebelle, the bold and magnetic Paquita Gordon, the smooth grooves of Vlada, the rock-solid Pariah, and many more like Christian AB, Sugar Free, Carlos Valdes, and DJ MARIA.

But, there are also some other artists “who just must come back.” So, the festival will enjoy again avant-garde dancefloor stars like Ryan Elliott, Eris Drew, Verraco, Sedef Adasi, and Jane Fitz — all crowd favourites who need no introduction. rock-solid Pariah, and many more like Christian AB, Sugar Free, Carlos Valdes, and DJ MARIA.
Nature is the Real Headliner
And let’s not forget the real headliner: nature. Ask anyone who’s been, and they’ll tell you the setting — the magical little town of Tolmin — steals the show every time. The team behind Butik are all locals, and they’ve chosen to keep the festival rooted in this lush corner of western Slovenia. Nestled between the Soča and Tolminka rivers, surrounded by mountains, trees and meadows, it’s like something out of a dream. The nearest international airport is in Trieste, about 80 km away and just across the Italian border.
“We want to highlight and celebrate the natural surroundings.

Keeping it Local: Sustainability and Community
The Butik team knows the area like the back of their hand, and they don’t want to drown it out with massive stages or over-the-top production. Quite the opposite: “We want to highlight and celebrate the natural surroundings.” And they do it with deep respect for the land — reusable cup deposit systems, low-volume policies during night hours, pocket ashtrays available on site… everything is designed so that, come Monday morning, the only trace Butik Festival leaves behind is “a positive economic impact that helps improve the quality of life for the local community.”

Welcome to Butik Festival — a festival that turns down big-name partnerships to stay small, independent and full of heart. A festival that balances global bookings with homegrown talent. A festival that proves, every year, that dancing and enjoying music in harmony with nature isn’t just possible — it’s ideal. A festival that works hand-in-hand with local authorities to make sure life in Tolmin keeps getting better.
If it’s not already on your list — it’s about to be. Butik might just be your next favourite festival.
