Free entry Magec, the Sun god for the ancient inhabitants of Tenerife, reigned in the island's skies until he was kidnapped by Guayota, the embodiment of evil, and imprisoned inside Teide, according to an ancient ‘guanche’ legend. Darkness then took hold of the world until Achamán freed him by imprisoning Guayota in his place, allowing light to illuminate the skies once again. Today, we commemorate that mythological event and worship the sun and life through fire, offering our wishes to Magec so that he may make them come true.
