Madrid Trip by Happy Erasmus Barcelona

We will leave Barcelona on Saturday early in the morning from Plaza Urquinaona (Ronda Sant Pere n.19, at 6:30) to make the most of the day. We will take a guided tour of the historic centre of Madrid (about 2 hours) during which we will visit all the emblematic corners and learn the history of the city: Gran Via, Plaza Mayor, Puerta de Sol, Palacio Real… We will visit the Retiro park with its famous navigable pond and its Crystal Palace, also we will visit the famous MUESUM DEL PRADO! For those interested in football, there will be also a possibility to visit the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium. Being accommodated in the city centre, we will enjoy the famous “movida madrileña“ on Saturday night. We will party and visit one of the most famous clubs in the city "MoonDance". Madrid has double honour: it is not only the capital of Spain, but also the largest city of the country. Madrid is situated along the banks of the Manzanares River, which runs through the centre of the country. Thanks to its multiple parks, it is also the greenest city in Europe. Madrid is the residence of the Spanish royal family, parliament and government. Madrid got its name from an Arabic word "magerit", which means "place of many currents." The official symbol of Madrid is a bear standing on its hind legs trying to reach fruits of a tree Madroño. According to a legend, strawberry orchard grew on the site of the Spanish capital. Which football club was the most successful in the 20th century? According to FIFA, it is without a doubt, FC Real Madrid. The home stadium of Real Madrid - the famous Santiago Bernabéu stadium, is located in Chamartín, north of Madrid. Do not be afraid that you will stay without tickets to enter: a capacity of the stadium is 85,000 spectators. When there are no games, tours of the stadium are organized, with the possibility to enter locker rooms and VIP areas. Another interesting fact - the building of the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía, much like everything new, has been for decades considered the ugliest building in Spain. This museum presents the works of the great Spanish painters of the 20th century, including the renowned masterpiece of Pablo Picasso "Guernica". We will have the opportunity to visit the three famous museums, which constitute a triangle of culture in the centre of Madrid: Museo Thyssen, Museo de Prado and Museo Reina Sofía. All of them are famous worldwide and for many tourists they are also the main reason for their visit of the Spanish capital. To return to Barcelona, we will leave Madrid on Sunday in the afternoon (around 18:00).
