About

SATURDAY | MARCH 2017 @ RAZZMATAZZ CLUBS | Opening doors 01:00am 1 Ticket 5 clubs >>> RAZZCLUB, THE LOFT, LOLITA, POP BAR & REX ROOM LOLITA: BEN PEARCE + BALDO To many, Ben Pearce’s name is synonymous with ‘What I Might Do’, his oddly anthemic deep-house debut that dominated club floors across the world in 2012. Whilst this is an easy correlation to make (the track went platinum in Europe, reached #7 in the UK charts and was the most Shazamed tracked of 2013 in the UK), those who have followed him since the beginning can testify that he is so much more than that. Ben is very much an underground DJ first-and-foremost, aided in no small part by his vast musical knowledge and the ability to play across a wide range of musical genres. His skills behind the decks have not gone un-noticed, as shown by high-profile sets alongside the likes of Simian Mobile Disco, Tensnake and Claptone. On the rise, Ben was named DJ Mag's Best Breakthrough Producer in 2013 and in the following year further proved that he's deserving of the coveted award. Becoming increasingly known for his remixing abilities as well as his own original productions, remixing for Le Youth, Kwabs and Tender Games all in 2014. He collaborated with Black Orange Juice ‘Predictable’ for MTA, a soulfully smooth single that equally showcases lyrical flair and production talent, as well as release the underground club infused 'Lego' EP on his own label. The latter end of 2014 saw Ben launch of his new disco inspired project The Sextape Series. Which incorporates a number of free mix tapes, cheeky edits and a sequence of Sextape inspired parties. These specific nights see Ben playing extended funk-infused sets across a range of characterful, intimate venues in the UK. Through 2015, Ben has continued to tour around the globe, starting the year in Australia before embarking on a tour of North America in March. Starting in Miami where Ben played a special Sextape Series set, the tour also took in dates in Montreal, Texas and Mexico City. Having appeared for the brand last year, Ben was given a recurring residency for ANTS at Ushuaia and additionally appeared for We Love… and Magna Carta at Sankeys Ibiza. Not to mention the inaugural Creamfields Festival in Ibiza at Ushuaia. Away from the White Isle, Ben played at the first ever Lost Village Festival as well as Parklife, We Are FSTVL and the Ruis Festival in the Netherlands. Revered for his classic disco sets, the legendary Giorgio Moroder also enlisted Ben to play a special set at the launch party for his new album at Shoreditch House in May - an event that also served as a fundraiser for Bridges for Music. Alongside a hectic touring schedule, Ben has also provided remixes for the likes of IYES and Hayden James on ‘Something About You’ in 2015, as well as standout collaborative record ’Nothing Ever Hurts' with Shadowchild and featuring vocalist Laurel - a track that reinforced Ben’s penchant for blending astute melody with peak-time bass. Ben also successfully runs his own label imprint Purp & Soul which has celebrated its 12th release with regular artist showcases and releases. After a massive couple of years, Ben has shown that he’s not one to rest on his laurels and 2015 is sure to further Ben Pearce’s status as one of the top DJs and producers in the industry. THE LOFT: MUMBAI SCIENCE + BRONTË Maarten Elen and Jonas Kiesekoms are two strong experimental personalities that have been quite a while at the scene, but in 2010 they decided to join in order to create Mumbai Science, their love for the shaking electro sounds of the synthesizers and the flow of the vintage techno. At their beginnings they released 4 original Eps via Lektroluv Records that included hits like Ancova, Gold and Lotus that where played by names like Crookers, tiga or 2manydjs at their sets. The future seems exciting for them, they’re releasing a trilogy of three Eps in which they have experimented with genres like new beat, techno, acid and, of course, electro. The last one of this series from this year is Impact EP including remixes from The Advent and John Roman. They are the scientist of mambo!. Buy your ticket now!!

Club
You cannot fully understand the musical culture and nightlife of Barcelona without mentioning Razzmatazz. It is one of the most renowned venues within the national and international scene. Founded in 2000, it was the first Spanish dance hall to open every single day of the week with its five different rooms, all under one roof. It is a building that is, in itself, an emblem of the city; a relic of Barcelona’s industrial landscape from the 90s, which combines perfectly with the underground feel to the club. The main room, the Razzclub, forms the backbone around which its younger sisters function: Lolita, PopBar, Rexroom and The Loft, the favorite of electronic lovers. All records, styles and disciplines have a place within the four walls of Razzmatazz @ Number 122, Calle Almogavers. RazzClub is known for being a benchmark of the European indie scene. The best indie-pop, new wave, nu-rave, electro-rock and the best live acts from artists like Arctic Monkeys, Foals, The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club, Yelle, David Byrne, Coldplay, Orbital, Pulp, The Strokes , Kanye West, Blur, Belle and Sebastian. - Lolita plays music styles such as House, Future Beats, Electropop, nu-disco, old school electro, Italo, hip hop, trap, dubstep that have come out of the hands of artists such as Justice, Airplane, Juan Maclean, The Magician, Tensnake, Space Dimension Controler, Cyril Hahn and Eton Messy among others. - In PopBar you can find an incredible mix of the best Pop: Northern soul, technopop, electro-rock, twee-pop, 80's, classic Indie, RnB and the most hyped songs of the moment, thanks to great guest Djs and first class residents. - Rexroom works as a kind of experimentation centre where different styles converge: house, italo-disco, acid, gay house and old-school electro. - Finally, The Loft, a favourite amongst followers of the best international electronic; a spacious room where you can find the most avant-garde sounds of Barcelona. Paul Kalkbrenner, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Len Faki, Boys Noize, Ben Sims, Dave Clark, Floating Points, and The Black Madonna guarantee their well-deserved reputation. The dress code is very casual. The wide variety of music tastes, cultures and styles played every night in Razzmatazz attract a very large and very diverse audience. No labels, no prejudice, total freedom and your clothes can say anything you want them to. Despite the club’s immense capacity, the “sold out” sign has been hung outside Razzmatazz on numerous occasions. To ensure entry you can buy your tickets in advance with Xceed. Razzmatazz never sleeps - it’s true! The nightclub opens 3 of its rooms every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of every month. Sundays are for INSERT, an afternoon session for lovers of the most pure techno. During the remaining days of the week, the room is open to host a variety of concerts and live performances that usually last from 8pm until 11pm. The ticket price varies depending on the party, but in average the price for a normal night is around 15€.
