Set up with microphone, headphones and PC to record podcasts music industry

Top podcasts to unlock the secrets of the music industry in 2024

Podcasts have been booming over the last few years. We have witnessed politicians, businessmen, influencers and all kinds of personalities getting on the mic to chat with the, almost always charismatic, hosts. Formats such as radio have been left aside and, also, its classic structure has been deconstructed to fit in with social media such as TikTok or Instagram

As it could not be otherwise, this trend has also reached the music industry. We are still just a click away from the monthly radio shows that the great Armin van Buuren brings with ASOT, Tiësto with Club Life or the finest deep house with Anjuna Deep. But beyond music itself, a whole network of podcasts has grown up almost serving as masterclasses for their wide variety of topics. Legal, marketing, production, AI and other new ways of business… Everything that crosses your mind has already been discussed at some point and can be a good alternative for you to learn on your own.

In the midst of so many options and so many boring lectures, we want you to have good references so that you can get as close and as real to the industry as possible. So grab your headphones, here are our favourite podcasts.

ABOUT THE MUSIC INDUSTRY AS A WHOLE UNIVERSE

Music Business Worldwide

The big fish in the online music business media is Music Business Worldwide. And with such a good reputation, they couldn’t help but join the podcast craze. Their series is divided into two, Talking Trends, which sums up the most important news in the field, and The MBW Podcast, where they interview leading names in the business. Among them, we’d like to mention the chat with Amy Thomson, former manager of DJ Snake and Swedish House Mafia and collaborator of Kanye West. In this episode, Amy discusses the three areas of the music business that need drastic change: confidentiality agreements, data and copyright.

The Music Industry Podcast

Hosted by Maddy and Alex from Burstimo, The Music Industry Podcast delves into all areas. From Spotify to live events, merchandising, social media, branding, the fan phenomenon and much more.

Music Industry Coffee Break by SonoSuite

On her show, in addition to music, she talks about gender, creativity and many of the topics that are not covered on any regular show. Artists such as REZZ and Demi Lovato have been on her mic, to give you an insight into the quality of her guests.

The New Music Business with Ari Herstand

Winner of the Webby Award for Best Music Podcast, Ari Herstand is the creator of The New Music Business. His show deconstructs the industry so that listeners can direct their own careers. A speech without surrounding or hiding that is on the agenda with topics such as AI or TikTok.

European Bootstrapping Champions

If you want to know a little more about Xceed, our CEO Mattia Franco sat with the European Bootstrapping Champions team to talk about our background and way of working. We don’t want to tell you more, you’ll have to listen 😉

FOR THE ELECTRONIC MUSIC GEEKS

The History of the World’s Greatest Nightclubs

London Audio, iHeartRadio and executive producer Paris Hilton teamed up to bring you closer with The History of the World’s Greatest Nightclubs. It is a program that highlights our worship venues, the place where we meet our chosen family, where new genres flourish every weekend. Where we dance. Everything that brings us together in one podcast.

House Culture

House Culture is the home of house lovers, as the name suggests. Matt Rouse interviews the most iconic personalities of this genre, whether they are DJs or promoters. Among his guests are renowned artists such as Chris Lake, Paul Oakenfold, Purple Disco Machine and Andrea Oliva.

Electronic Music Life with James Locksmith

One of our favourites specifically geared towards electronic music is Electronic Music Life by James Locksmith. The diversity of his subjects is huge, ranging from impostor syndrome, meditation, cultural barriers and much more.
