The unstoppable HEX Barcelona and Pfirter at INPUT – Review

About 3 years ago, a new movement was born in Barcelona. Two visionaries, Pøli and Lorenzo, met each other and discovered the need for a different type of concept. Darkness and love for pure raw techno music were their mottos.

Their initial project, DOOM was based on the simple idea of a private event with only 80 unique codes, each one given to a person, allowing them to buy a presale entrance. Secret location (it was never a club). 8 hours of techno without famous names, VIP’s or photos, only mindblowing visuals and the best sound powered by Funktion-One.

After three extremely successful events, and due to the city’s laws, the founders decided to change the concept and started doing their parties at Under Club, earning a huge name in the nightlife scene. And then HEX moved to INPUT.

The rest is history. Ben Klock, DVS1, SHDW & Obscure Shape, showcases with Pole Group, Etapp Kyle, Boston 168Chris Liebing… endless talent in the techno circuit has lived the HEX experience. The brand also took over the most legendary venue in Barcelona, Razzmatazz, by filling up its 5 rooms with darkness and the finest techno, all equipped with a Funktion-One sound system. A night that totally changed the industrial-looking venue in a new milestone for HEX Barcelona.

Their last one saw young Argentinian talent Pfirter, close friend with Jonas Kopp and one of Argentina´s finest techno exports.

We got to INPUT early to catch some of the action the club’s resident DJ, HITCH, was throwing to warm up the night. His subtle but powerful beats worked perfectly to prepare us for what was going to hit us later on that night.

Lorenzo, one half of the HEX founders, took over the decks after him to speed up the vibe and put set our minds on another world. Steady and constant.

The night’s guest arrived early too so he could catch the atmosphere and see the direction in which the night was going. And boy he didn’t disappoint. No wonder the EQ genius Oscar Mulero has made him part of his Pole Group family, one of the most influential labels in the world. Pfirter borught a sound that is dark and uplifting at the same time, old school and fresh. Hypnotic melodies and straight up raw techno mixed flawlessly filled all the corners of the room.

Awaiting was the other half of HEX, Pøli, to put an end to the night. A few seconds of silence to get some rest and back at it again. Brain melting techno with more percussive influences that felt comforting after Pfirter’s intense set. But throughout his set, the resident DJ also got back to the ‘standard’ of the night and threw dark, heavy tracks like Kobosil‘s outstanding Bei Nacht H.

A perfect way to end another unreal HEX, expanding the brand even further, for what is now a true religion in Barcelona. An optimal musical journey with a different atmosphere that any real techno fan must experience. And surely you’ll keep coming back, the brand will be among the biggest names in the techno world rather sooner than later. Long live HEX!

The next one will see Berghain resident and Ostgut Ton regular Marcel Dettmann take over the now legendary INPUT for a more than special night on the 20th of October.
