Following the unfortunate incident in The Butterfly Disco Pub in Adeje Tenerife, Spain The International Nightlife Association declares its full support and aid.
In the last week of November, The Butterfly Disco Pub in Playa de las Americas suffered a shocking incident, where at 2:30 a.m Sunday morning the dance floor collapsed sending over 40 people falling more than five meters underground. The accident resulted in 20 injured clubbers out of which two were seriously injured. The casualties consisted of several broken bones, fractures as well as asphyxiation due to the dust. Such an unimaginable and unfortunate turn of events is impossible to predict and hard to recover from.
Consequentially, the International Nightlife Association, through its member association in Spain (Spain Nightlife), has offered the Mayor of Adeje its full support in educating and inspecting the city’s venues in order to ensure such an event does not occur again.
Mr. José Miguel Rodríguez, Mayor of Adeje has offered the implementation of the “International Nightlife Safety Certified”, which is an internationally recognized safety seal for clubs and venues.
They propose to implement the international safety seal “International Nightlife Safety Certified” on a worldwide scale. They aim to label the clubs adhering to the measures required to ensure the overall safety of itself and its clients. The seal has been developed with the support and recognition of the UN World Tourism Organisation, over the course of four years and proposed to the international community at relevant conferences.
The meeting with the Mayor should be held in the upcoming days.
