Naples is ready for a homecoming. And by homecoming we mean its favourite clubbing spots. Where you can feel yourself, without artifice. This is what has been driving Basic Club since 2018, one of the great references of Italian nightlife, which has just announced its full September programme.
The kick-off will be given by the American Marcellus Pittman in an all night long format. A true legend on the decks, part of 3 Chairs along with Wilhite, Parrish and Moodyman and director of the Unirhythm label. The Detroit original and major contributor to the sound of the city is the star of the eagerly awaited opening of Basic Club on 16 September.
On 23 September, it’s the turn of a trio of world-class talents. First up, South Africa’s Esa, committed to the concept of offering a musical journey, will transport clubbers back to his cultural roots while keeping his strong European influence full of positive energy. To read the Naples crowd in detail, Basic regular Gigi Testa will channel his vision into experimental sounds. They will be joined by fellow Italian Sara Mautone.
The third Basic Club date will be hosted by Kenny Dope on 29 September. The legendary producer will present his concept ‘Anything Goes’ in a hybrid that will explore genres such as Hip Hop, Soul, Funk, Reggae or classic House in the same night and without really knowing how you got from one to the other, in the best possible way. The finishing touch comes one day later. On 30 September, Paula Tape and Davide D’Amico will host your hours of dancing. Chile’s Paula Tape is an expert at seeking out hidden and eclectic gems, while resident Davide D’Amico will bring you the finest in house and disco.
Basic Club stands on the exclusion of images and design, with a desire to put the music and what it conveys at the centre of everything, dim lighting and the certainty of having found a place where what you hear is more important than what you see. If all of the above sounds like you… Congratulations, you have found your place in the wide Italian scene.
