Four dates in a month. Not bad at all… In our list of the 100 best DJs of the year, the Belgian sensation Amelie Lens ranks 3rd and does so because she has been one of the fastest growing artists since 2017. Her proposal consolidates Belgium’s Flemish zone as one of the most prolific in the techno genre. Her sets, loaded with acid and even raver dyes, always emit a great deal of energy, which served to convince Richie Hawtin himself after one of her performances.
In the last two years, Amelie Lens has travelled all over the world and has performed in some of the most important cities on the scene, such as Berlin, Amsterdam, Barcelona, London, Madrid, Rome, Miami, New York or Montreal. The Flemish DJ has released 3 EPs on Second State, owned by the German duo Pan-Pot, and has also run the Exhale events along with Ben Klock and Kobosil, two of the biggest stars of the German industrial techno.
Lenske is Amelie Lens’s latest great creation. Together with Farrago, they have founded the label on which many of their productions will be released from now on, although one of the most recent ones, her remix of Adam Beyer’s ‘Teach Me’, has meant Amelie’s first big appearance on the prestigious Drumcode, the Swedish producer’s own label, in this 2019.
After a quite relaxing month for the Belgian producer, Amelie now faces a frenetic month of February and will do so with Farrago always on her side and with Xceed following closely their steps. Ahead, two double dates. The first will take Amelie Lens to Portugal and Italy. The adventure starts on Friday, February 8th, in Gare Porto, considered one of the best clubs on the continent. Great names like Ø [Phase] or Paula Temple have been on its DJ booth, although the place is known for having always bet on the local talent of the Iberian country. A few hours later, on Saturday 9th, the Belgian couple will visit Amnesia Milano, undoubtedly one of the best clubs in Italy. All the top artists, such as Loco Dice, Sven Väth or Tale Of Us, have performed there at least once.
The journey will continue at the end of the month. Amelie Lens will return to Spain to perform during the week in Malaga and Palma de Mallorca, joining the CODE team (the most aggressive techno party of the Madrid club FABRIK). The first gig will take place on Wednesday, February 27th, in the Auditorio Príncipe de Asturias and joining the team of This Is Torremolinos. A large number of people are expected in one of the most spectacular locations in town. In addition, we will be on the eve of Andalusia Day, a sacred night for all the inhabitants of the region. 24 hours later, Amelie Lens and Farrago will invade Es Gremi, a multi-use hall in the Balearic capital, to turn this new Danzû event into a real rave with the inevitable summery smell of the islands. One month and four dates in which Amelie Lens will continue to conquer souls and show why she’s one of the artists of the moment.
