About

Amelie Lens has become, in just a few years, one of the most acclaimed DJs of the electronic music scene. After her debut on Lyase, gig after gig, banger after banger, the Belgian artist as demonstrated what she’s made of bringing her techno sound, together with her energy and charisma, on the stages of the most famous festivals of the world, such as Sónar Festival, Time Warp, Movement Detroit and Awakenings. Her skills and ability on the mix are well balanced with those in the studio, having produced several successful tracks which were released on Pan Pot’s Second State, on Adam Beyer’s Drumcode and on her very own LENSKE. Her attention to detail has characterized every single step of her career up to now, made of heavy and captivating techno drops. The success she earned in the past years is really impressive, as all the sold-out events prove, including those of her very own EXHALE parties. In very few years, she has become the headliner of some of the most important events of the industry and is, without doubts, one of the most phenomenal artists of the current techno scene. Amelie Lens was born on the 31st of May 1990 in Vilvoorde, Belgium. She was only 16 years old when she went to Belgium’s Dour Festival in 2006 and fell in love with electronic music, especially with techno. Completely mesmerized by what she had discovered, she started going around Belgium by train to attend as many festivals and gigs as possible, absorbing every single bit of what she was coming across with, rhythm, beats, drops. Her inspirations at the time were Underworld, Boys Noize, Ellen Allien and Nine Inch Nails. It didn’t take long for her to experiment djing and, after having quit her career as a model in 2014, she started playing at her own nights in Antwerp, performing under the alias Renée. At the same time, she was spending time in the studio learning everything about music production. In the beginning, she was reworking old-school tracks, trying to adapt them to a different beat. She soon got to what today could be defined as her fast, futuristic techno sound. Her debut release “Exhale” was published on the Italian label Lyase in 2016, but it was the trio of releases on Pan Pot’s Second State which opened the international doors for Amelie Lens. Despite the fact that she herself sometimes thought it was too early to play, the gigs came all together and she soon found herself sharing the stages with some of the most well-known artists of the techno scene. Sónar Festival, Time Warp as well as the renowned Circoloco parties at DC-10, are just a few of the amazing places where she played in the following years. In 2018, she launched her own label LENSKE, on which Belgian artists Farrago, Milo Spykers and the Paris-based AIROD were featured. At the beginning of 2019, she also launched her EXHALE parties. At first taking place at the Hasselt’s Labyrinth Club, where she invited artist such as Ben Klock, Marcel Dettmann, Rødhåd, Ellen Allien and Kobosil, as well as her own spectacular all night long sets, they are now sold-out events. Several EXHALE shows have already taken place in London’s notorious Fabric, as well as festivals among which OFF Sónar, Creamfields and Extrema Festival. 2019 was also the year in which Amelie Lens remixed Drumcode’s top release “Teach Me”, marking the 200th release of Adam Beyer’s label. What Amelie Lens achieved in a very short amount of time, is what some artists dream to achieve in a whole lifetime. At the moment, she is touring around the world on a weekly basis, bringing her cutting-edge techno sound to the best clubs and festivals, collecting one sold-out after the other. With her label LENSKE she is trying to discover new talents, concentrating on the future of techno, while featuring also long-time known artists. And this is exactly what has characterized her from the very beginning: a fusion between classic and modern techno, which makes of her one of the most acclaimed artists of this generation.
