As said, the nightlife of Palma up to a certain hour is concentrated in bars. The most popular are in the area of Paseo Marítimo, in between the cathedral and the harbour. Here you’ll be surrounded by PRs, but don’t worry, in the worst-case scenario you’ll have obtained a free shot or a discount in some club. After a few drinks, everyone moves to the “garitos”, small clubs on the beach or underground. In this area you’ll find clubs such as the famous Tito’s or Marsalada. In Santa Catalina’s area instead, there are other famous "garitos" such as Sabotage, where they play rock and indie music, or Sala Luna, where on Fridays there are the techno nights by R33 and on Saturdays there are gay parties. Nearby there is also Brooklyn, a very good alternative for the techno lovers. If instead you want to spend a calmer evening, maybe enjoying a live jazz concert, then La Lonja is the right area for you.
Paseo Marítimo is mainly commercial. In all the garitos, especially the ones on the beach, you’ll listen principally to reggaeton, commercial music and house music. You can find all the other music genres all around the city. As mentioned, after parties are not so common here. The most well-known is outside Palma, and it’s a small underground Berlin style "garito", with a massive sound system. This is one of the very few places where you’ll be able to continue dancing after 6 in the morning.
