Jamboree Jazz Club

17 Pl. Reial, Barcellona

Club

At the beginning of 1960, the businessman Joan Rosselló converted the Brindis bar, located at number 17 of the Plaza Real, into a jazz cellar. At the suggestion of the critic Javier Coma, he named it Jamboree, a word in Zulu adopted by the escort movement that means "meeting of tribes." Jamboree was born to integrate the sessions of the Jubilée Jazz Club, a pioneer entity in the diffusion of the most daring jazz in Barcelona. From then until 1968, the cava in the Plaza Real managed to put Barcelona on the tour circuit of the great jazz stars. It also became famous among the intellectuals and the sailors of the 6th Fleet that often docked in Barcelona.

Hip-hop, R&B, Reggae / Dancehall
