Decka makes sound that journeys through bare-bones techno and bass, crafting hypnotic polyrhythmic patterns. Grown up in Bristol, Decka's music reflects a unique, hybrid cross between UK and EU techno. His music, found on Darwin's SPE:C imprint and more recently his own imprint: Unterwegs, has gained the support of many artists around the globe. First making noise in 2015 on Darwin’s Berlin label SPE:C with the Begyndelsen EP, Decka makes sound that journeys through bare-bones techno and bass, crafting hypnotic polyrhythmic patterns that look both to the big room industrial sound of the German Capital, where he now resides and the sub-low pressure rooted in his home city, Bristol. In a musical world heavily focused on the straight lines, drumming its beats stringently four on the floor, artists who break out of the classical rhythm always tend to catch one’s ears and eyes. John Wallis is one of those. Constructing complex sonic cathedrals from a mind- and toolset born of both the UK as the EU, the artist going by the name of Decka, presents quite a unique panoply of sounds to his willing listeners.
