Boj Angler
Broccoli Wars! When in the history of mankind did a DJ’s press text start with the word ‘Broccoli’? Probably several times, perhaps never - whatever. Ha! Catchy opening, you think? There is even more: born in German jerkwater town Paderborn, 25 year old Boj Angler has never played any classical instrument. Starting off with a turntablism-career which you sympathetically could describe as mediocre, a record store in Zurich turned his attention to UK Garage and 90's house music: “Finally, I have found my way with the Ladies! It is so easy to dance to house music: back, forth, back, forth, back, forth, back and forth. This is what I wanna do!” Good for us, Boj Angler kept his word and began to dig deep in all electronic music there is. I don’t know what it is, but this kid’s got it: it’s the strive for the perfect song at the most fitting time, it’s the demand for quality music and it’s the sneaky eye for the most beautiful strawberry in a mixed fruit salad. What? “Frankly speaking, I don’t know what I love more: the smell of my T-shirt at sunrise after a club gig or the sizzling creative moments when I’m with my drum computer.” In the sequence of spinning records for almost a decade, Boj Angler inevitably started to refine his own house music productions in a very distinctive way. Inspired by the sound of a spoon clicking inside a peanut butter glass and remarkable artists like RJD2, Soundstream, John Talabot, Dj Premier, Darius Syrossian and Detroit Swindle, young good-looking son of a gun Boj Angler is now ready to spice up the big pot of ratatouille that electronic music is. A couple of tracks are already signed up, so lace up your sneakers and remember these words of wisdom: “If the milk turns out to be sour, I ain’t gonna be the pussy to drink it”.
