Red Rack'em

Info

DJ Bookings - ben@fieldartists.net Press - dujon@listen-up.biz Remixes/Licensing - danny@redrackem.com 'If anyone is one to watch it's this guy' The Black Madonna, Radio 1 (06/01/17) Danny Berman aka Red Rack’em went from being a seasoned underground veteran to overnight success in 2016 with his cross genre smash ‘Wonky Bassline Disco Banger’ picking up plays and support from just about everyone including Moodymann, Black Madonna and even Elton John. It also went onto score the remarkable double of being the biggest selling vinyl single of the year at Juno AND being awarded record of the year at Phonica. No one was more surprised than Danny himself, and as the Radio 1 mixes and remix requests reached fever pitch, he rolled his sleeves up and got stuck in. Business as usual really, as for the last 10 years he’s been steadily releasing underground smashers on Ramp, Wolf, Philomena/Innervisions, Bergerac, Sonar Kollektiv and remixing artists such as Tricky, Jazzanova, Tensnake, Jah Wobble and Tinie Tempah for Universal, Domino and Parlophone. Since ‘Wonky’ dropped, things have been non-stop with a whirlwind of touring, releases, radio shows and remixes. His hotly anticipated second album ‘Self Portrait’ dropped in February and he’s been hard at work touring his cross genre sound across Europe and beyond. Recent sell out shows at XOYO in London, Rainbow Warehouse in Birmingham and Decks On The Beach in Beirut pitched Danny in front of some of the biggest crowds of his career. ‘Self Portrait’ picked up praise from many key players including long time supporter Gilles Peterson who described it as Danny’s ‘opus’. Pete Tong invited him onto Radio 1 to record an ‘After Hours’ mix which fortuitously dropped on the same day as the album was released. Speaking of radio, this is another area in which Red Rack’em has been making waves. He’s just as comfortable dropping broken beats and jazz on Gilles Peterson’s Worldwide FM as he is smashing out the darkest dubs on his recent Rinse FM shows. Guest spots on Red Light Radio and NTS have kept the fires burning since his much loved ‘Smugglers Inn’ show was reluctantly put on ice after 10 years in 2016 when things became ‘too mental’. As a DJ, Red Rack’ems credentials are there for all too see. Initially an aspiring scratch DJ in a remote Scottish fishing village, he’s spent the last 23 years honing his craft and taken in plenty of genres and vibes along the way. He’s toured the world, played some of the worlds biggest clubs and festivals and even curated his own Boiler Room. With 6 remixes completed already this year and some amazing original music ready to go on his own Bergerac and Nettles labels, it looks like things are going to continue at quite a hectic pace for Red Rack’em for quite some time.
