More than a traditional fair, it makes craftsmanship tangible — inspiring visitors to engage, experiment, and rediscover the value and satisfaction of working with their own hands. In metropolitan areas such as Frankfurt, it is often difficult to find and maintain spaces for subculture. TOKONOMA is a grassroots project that was established by a strong community. Especially in times when democracy is under threat, and with it our peaceful coexistence, there is a need to provide space for progressive values and people from marginalised groups.
