Mi chiamo Francesco Mariani, sono cuoco e vignaiolo a Montefalco, in Umbria. Produco vini da agricoltura biodinamica insieme all’amico e collaboratore Andrea Mattioli. “Raína” era il soprannome del contadino che prima di noi coltivava queste terre. Con tale nome ho voluto mantenere vivo il legame con il passato. La nostra cantina nasce nel 2002. I vigneti, 10 ettari impiantati tra il 2002 e il 2008, sono posti ad una quota compresa tra 220 e 300 metri sul livello del mare. Il suolo che li compone è di medio impasto, ricco di scheletro. L’esposizione è principalmente a sud-est. Il sistema di allevamento è il guyot per tutte le varietà. La densità di impianto è di circa 5700 ceppi per ettaro. Nelle nostre vigne coltiviamo Sagrantino, Sangiovese, Montepulciano, Merlot, Syrah, Grechetto e Trebbiano Spoletino.
Nel 2022 abbiamo deciso di uscire dal circuito delle DOC per cui tutti i nostri vini sono volutamente certificati come IGT Umbria.
