About

Wild..The exclusive party of Thursday night in Opium Barcelona, this time with The Partysquad (NL) Dutch DJs/ producers Ruben Fernhout and Jerry Leembruggen are the two members of the energetic and highly sought after musical sensation The Partysquad. They have been responsible for international releases since 2009, making their mark with their singles and remixes on such labels as Spinnin Records / Rebel Yard, Universal / TopNotch and Mad Decent and Dim Mak. The Partysquad has been one of the most popular DJ formations of their country for a steady 10 years, taking over the Dutch Top 40 charts with astounding 12 hit singles. In 2008, Ruben and Jerry decided that their talents were ready to go worldwide. Not all success comes without hardships, however. While in Ibiza for preparations, their musical run came to a sudden stop; a life-altering car accident on the island left one-half of The Partysquad in a coma; Jerry's career, and ultimately The Partysquad, came to a halt indefinitely. As Jerry recovered and made his comeback in 2010, he and his partner in crime Ruben stepped made a comeback that the world was ready to embrace. They began releasing tracks like "Amsterdam" in collaboration with Afrojack, which quickly became one of Spinnin Records’ best-selling records worldwide on Beatport. November 2011 marked another highlight in The Partysquad’s career; the American label Downtown Records released the reggae-influenced track ‘Original Don’, a collaboration of Mad Decent Records’ Major Lazer with The Partysquad. This wasn’t The Partysquad’s first time working with Mad Decent, having released their first EP ‘Murderer/ Hollertronix # 10’ on Diplo’s label in 2009, but ‘Original Don’ certainly was their break through into the American electronic music scene. In 2013 they continued their collaboration with Major Lazer and released the track Major Lazer & The Partysquad feat Ward 21 - Mashup the Dance, another banger played at the all the big festivals. With the wild success of their release, The Partysquad expanded on the style of Original Don and created an EP with 6 tracks with just one purpose: to destroy dance floors all around the world. This EP is called the Badman Rave EP. With this EP it was really clear that the two can create a new international sound. They are added to the weekly playlists of the famous radio shows, including Annie Mac, Benji B, Toddla T, and of course, Diplo & Friends at the famous station BBC Radio 1. Many big names began to pick up their releases. With their latest tracks ‘Oh My ’ and The Lion they have taken their so-called experimental reggae rave EDM and Trap to another level. The Partysquad's music comes with no boundaries. If they had to, they would describe their production and performance style as "creative chaos". Their international releases show an extreme variety and are truly an aural explosion to any listener. The only standard they are recognised for is that their releases are made to take over any dance floor. Steve Aoki even noticed this and eventually signed their track with The Deathset ft Diplo, called P.O.V.2.0 to his label, Dim Mak. The latest release has been in October 2013. The single #PANTSDOWN with DJ Mitchell Niemeyer. Just recently, The Partysquad teamed up with Spinnin Records and started their own label called "Rebel Yard". They have always liked to experiment with all kinds of music and felt there was room for a label that could hold more than one particular style. Rebel Yard's purpose is for creative artists to have a place where the Amsterdam influence of the Dutch Caribbean islands, Surinam, Asia and more may be combined with all sorts of music: Electro House, Reggae, Dub, Trap, and much more. Rebel Yard is for the open-minded listener, the progressive artist, and the future of music. While working on their international releases, they haven’t forgotten about their true Dutch fans. So they released a new Dutch single “ Helemaal Naar De Klote” which is a follow up on their famous hit single that came out last year in 2012, called “Ik Ga Hard”. Anyone who plays these songs for Dutch audiences will find out that these two tracks are Dutch club anthems! Even "Harlem Shake" Baauer plays the first tune every set worldwide.
