En 1988 Mark Archer y Dean Meredith arrancaban su carrera como productores con la apertura de los estudios Blue Chip, en su ciudad natal Stafford. Empezaron como un grupo de hip hop llamado Rhythm Mode D, grabando algunas canciones para el sello, antes de ramificarse con diferentes estilos incluyendo el acid house y el techno, entre otros. Archer fue el fundador del mítico proyecto Bizarre inc. Antes de comenzar uno nuevo bajo el nombre Nexus 21, con el que realizó una serie de lanzamientos en sellos de renombre como Network y R&S Records, siendo los primeros artistas en tener un remix del legendario Carl Craig de su single Still (Life Keeps Moving). Al mismo tiempo, Mark comenzó un proyecto paralelo que se convirtió en uno de los grandes nombres en la historia rave, Altern 8, dominando esta escena hasta el año 1992, siendo su álbum Full On Mask Hysteria uno de los más siginifcativos del estilo y de la electrónica inglesa en general, llegando a entrar con el el top 10 del chart inglés de álbumes. RAZZCLUB: FIESTA A SACO: AMABLE + LEGOTEQUE Si eres de los que conserva o han pasado por tus manos alguna de las míticas cintas de cassette con sesiones de Amable del legendario A Saco de Hospitalet y más tarde en Zeleste (Barcelona), esta es sin duda tu noche. Eran cintas que se regalaban en los aniversarios de la discoteca y que recogían sesiones con el material indie que manejaba Amable entonces, de lo más pop a lo más pistero y electrónico. Siempre con ese estilo inconfundible y único que lo han convertido en uno de los djs más reputados del país. Años después, rememora junto a Legoteque, esos días en los que el indie era algo más que un estilo de pop independiente, era toda una manera de vivir ese momento. Una noche para recordar y darlo todo. LOLITA: JOKKOO: NIHILOXICA LIVE (NYEGE NYEGE) + OPOKU + BABA SY + MBODJ Spooky-J y pq conspiran en el Nilotica Cultural Ensemble con sensibilidad tecnológica y una buena carga de oscuridad. Nihiloxica trae los tambores de Buganda, los envía al inframundo y los devuelve a un proyecto en directo diseñado para utilizar el estado de trance creado por grupos de percusión indígenas y fusionarlo con música de club. Cuando se lanzó su EP de debut con gran éxito de crítica, en su presentación encabezando el festival Nyege Nyege de Uganda, Nihiloxica, se pudieron en boca de todos. Ya están trabajando en su próximo lanzamiento, desarrollando el sonido que les granjeó el elogio de instituciones como Tiny Mixtapes y Boomkat, un lugar en el radar de Noisey y Dengue Dengue Dengue y apariciones en las listas de lo mejor de 2017. You cannot fully understand the musical culture and nightlife of Barcelona without mentioning Razzmatazz. It is one of the most renowned venues within the national and international scene. Founded in 2000, it was the first Spanish dance hall to open every single day of the week with its five different rooms, all under one roof. It is a building that is, in itself, an emblem of the city; a relic of Barcelona’s industrial landscape from the 90s, which combines perfectly with the underground feel to the club. The main room, the Razzclub, forms the backbone around which its younger sisters function: Lolita, PopBar, Rexroom and The Loft, the favorite of electronic lovers. All records, styles and disciplines have a place within the four walls of Razzmatazz @ Number 122, Calle Almogavers. RazzClub is known for being a benchmark of the European indie scene. The best indie-pop, new wave, nu-rave, electro-rock and the best live acts from artists like Arctic Monkeys, Foals, The 1975, Two Door Cinema Club, Yelle, David Byrne, Coldplay, Orbital, Pulp, The Strokes , Kanye West, Blur, Belle and Sebastian. - Lolita plays music styles such as House, Future Beats, Electropop, nu-disco, old school electro, Italo, hip hop, trap, dubstep that have come out of the hands of artists such as Justice, Airplane, Juan Maclean, The Magician, Tensnake, Space Dimension Controler, Cyril Hahn and Eton Messy among others. - In PopBar you can find an incredible mix of the best Pop: Northern soul, technopop, electro-rock, twee-pop, 80's, classic Indie, RnB and the most hyped songs of the moment, thanks to great guest Djs and first class residents. - Rexroom works as a kind of experimentation centre where different styles converge: house, italo-disco, acid, gay house and old-school electro. - Finally, The Loft, a favourite amongst followers of the best international electronic; a spacious room where you can find the most avant-garde sounds of Barcelona. Paul Kalkbrenner, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Len Faki, Boys Noize, Ben Sims, Dave Clark, Floating Points, and The Black Madonna guarantee their well-deserved reputation. The dress code is very casual. The wide variety of music tastes, cultures and styles played every night in Razzmatazz attract a very large and very diverse audience. No labels, no prejudice, total freedom and your clothes can say anything you want them to. Despite the club’s immense capacity, the “sold out” sign has been hung outside Razzmatazz on numerous occasions. To ensure entry you can buy your tickets in advance with Xceed. Razzmatazz never sleeps - it’s true! The nightclub opens 3 of its rooms every Wednesday, Friday and Saturday of every month. Sundays are for INSERT, an afternoon session for lovers of the most pure techno. During the remaining days of the week, the room is open to host a variety of concerts and live performances that usually last from 8pm until 11pm. The ticket price varies depending on the party, but in average the price for a normal night is around 15€.
