It is precisely the union of these elements which allows the mind to wander and the body to keep moving. A strictly warm and organic sound, dominated by low frequencies and percussive elements is Windfuhr’s signature touch. Music as a tool - to explore himself and to build a dialogue with the audience. His Guadeloupean heritage enables him to capture and adapt the musical tradition of `Gwo Ka‘ - which in Creole means “big drum”- into each one of his mixes. Gwo Ka is the combination of sound and movement through the rhythms played on the drums and the dances of the audience. In its traditional form, drummers and dancers merge into an infinite interaction of rhythms and gestures giving life to a communal performance. Inspired by his roots, Windfuhr translates this tradition into contemporary soundscapes with the aim to emphasize the connection between dance, spirit and music. The philosophy of communication through sound lies at the roots of his passion: by reading and understanding the energy of the dancers, he becomes their shadow and allows the creation of a story where everyone is the author.
