About

ROBIN PORTER (aka HYDRAFUNK) - CONFIRMED DATES Feb 24, 2017 (1-2pm) - Labelworx Live Stream, Hull Apr 8, 2017 - Elephant Club, Oslo Apr 20 - Macarena Club, Barcelona May 20, Whisky Jar, Manchester with Funk D'Void (Immigrant party) June 3 - Kater, Berlin (Immigrant presents Funk D'Void) BOOKINGS Oleg Belolipetskiy | Moving Systems, Berlin ob@moving-systems.com Robin Porter (aka Hydrafunk) Biography Robin is the founder of Immigrant Records and Shva Muzik, imprints that have influenced the dance music community for well over a decade. Born and raised in Manchester, Robin spent his formative musical years basking in the haze of the Hacienda club; enjoying the infamous summer of love in '88. In 1996 traveled to the sunnier climes of California and spent a decade producing, DJing, uncovering new talent for the label and trend setting for global clothing brands. Since the labels inception in 1998, Immigrant has signed over 75 artists from all corners of the globe and released over forty 12" EP's on vinyl. The label was partly responsible for introducing the "tech-house" sound to North and South America and continues to transport the sound globally to this day. With the reputation of working with pioneers like Casey Hogan, Alexi Delano and John Tejada, Immigrant has spawned the careers of young producers such as Subb-an, Santos Resiak and Jay Bliss (Hermmanstadt Collective) who are now becoming recognized within the industry. Robin has performed alongside pioneers such as Kevin Saunderson, Matthew Dear, Miss Kittin, Swayzak, Adam Beyer, Juan Atkins, Josh Wink, Funk D'Void, Francois K, and latter days heroes in Luciano, dOP, Vincenzo, Anja Schneider, Matt Tolfrey and Ricardo Villalobos. He has headlined at venues and events all over the world from Berlin to Buenos Aires, Tokyo to Guadalajara; clubs such as Pacha (Buenos Aires), Technique (Leeds), Avalon (Los Angeles), Weekend Club (Berlin) and held a residency at London's infamous T-Bar in 2009. He records predominantly under his own name but also under the pseudonym's "Porterhaus" and "Hydrafunk" with US synth guru Mike Carr. Robin partnered with global trend setter Jean-Marc Virard and the DE SIGNER quartet from Los Angeles on a project they signed to Jamie Jone's Hot Creations label. Robin's remix of "Suicide Girl" gained much praise and was awarded "tune of the month" in the Dec 2010 issue of Mixmag. The track was also featured on the cover mount CD mixed by Jamie and Seth Troxler. The partnership was triumph and more collaborations are expected in 2011. Robin has remixed the Radio One tune of the week "Now That I'm Real" by Chad Valley to be released on Loose Lips Records in June, along with remixes for Manchester's Development Music and Spain's Flumo Recordings which are planned for release this summer.
