 Capturing the essence of the character and the music of Nathalie Duchene is like considering the dichotomy which opposes day and night, the moon to the sun and tropical melodies to techno-infused beats. Raised in Liege, Belgium, Nathalie Duchene turns up in Paris at 19. After touring all over the world from Paris to Tokyo and releasing projects on various labels (OFF Recordings, Caduceus Records and Exploited with her duo O.N.O), the idea of producing a more radiant type of sound started nagging at the young Belgian. A harsh covid-lockdown created the perfect storm to awaken her desire to dance and to make others dance. And so, Praia was born. Released in March 2022 on the label Toy Tonics, Praia represents Nathalie Duchene's first solo album. Taken from Portuguese, the title means "beach". Like a nod to Nathalie Duchene's own duality, the record's cheerful style of house is equally at ease on a sun-drenched beach in the middle of summer (like the eponymous track Praia) as it is at a club in the middle of the night, when dancing completely takes over (“Glaston” et “I Don’t Need Nobody”). The remixes help complete the duality which defines Nathalie Duchene. While Yuksek brings a more nocturnal touch to “Praia”, Boombass infuses “Glaston” with tropical sounds which instantly turn up the heat.
