Alan Mathias and Etienne Dauta mostly known as duo Arcarsenal have been slowly but firmly raising a sound and work ethos since a few years now. The two frenchmen spent hours of works in their Berlin based production nest where a love for jam and improvisation has led them to a fine understanding of each other and dialog within their influences. This musical symbiosis has led to enthralling releases on mighty Underground Quality and other respected labels, aside their own Bass Cadet Records imprint. Proprietors of the store that bears the same name, these versatile DJ’s have been busy playing to parties across their adopted hometown and European clubs – sharing their love for the house and techno that inspires them, whilst maintaining their own delectable take on the cherished sounds, either deep or upbeat, but always on the soul key.
After inaugurating their label in 2012, a detour by London’s This Is Not Happening in 2013, they released a statement EP on Finest Hour in late 2014, critically and publicly acclaimed. Following up, 2015 was a breakout year, the duo continuing to spread their craft on Bass Cadet Records - “Hoodoo Spell EP”, US trailblazing Finale Sessions - “Dark Skies & Wetlands EP”, and Paris’ finest Rue De Plaisance - “Medicinal Herbs EP”. They have also seen their titles featured on compilations on DJ Jus-Ed’s Underground Quality, Berlin underground Science Fiction Recordings and Funhaus Records. The sound spectrum of the duo can be seen as a whole cosmology of its own. From dubby and ambient essays, spiritual house groovers and dark pounding tribal techno, their sound always shines with a special mark of dance-floor psychedelia.
Keeping themselves busy, Arcarsenal have already lined in several new releases for esteemed labels in 2016, and are working on a hardware-only live act, set to expand their sonic routines to other territories.
