Terra Meiga Announces Its First Edition: A New International Gathering of Electronic Music, Art and Nature on the Galicia–Portugal Border September 19–21, 2026 · Parque de Lazer do Açude · Vila Verde da Raia · Chaves, Portugal From September 19 to 21, 2026, Parque de Lazer do Açude in Vila Verde da Raia (Chaves, Portugal) will host the inaugural edition of Terra Meiga, an international gathering dedicated to contemporary electronic music, visual arts, and the connection between culture and nature. Terra Meiga was created with the aim of bringing high-quality cultural programming to a rural area that has historically remained outside the major contemporary music circuits. The project embraces cultural decentralization while creating a meeting point between Galicia and northern Portugal, highlighting the surrounding landscape as an essential part of the experience. Far removed from large-scale festival formats, Terra Meiga offers a carefully curated program for audiences interested in deep listening, artistic discovery, and creative exchange. The festival's musical direction focuses on experimental electronics, ambient, minimal, and other forms of contemporary electronic music that find an ideal setting within the natural landscape. The program will unfold across two stages, each with its own distinct identity. The Terra Meiga Stage will showcase the more rhythmic and dynamic side of contemporary electronic music, while the Ambient Stage will provide an immersive listening environment featuring ambient performances, live electronics, and soundscape-based works. The inaugural lineup brings together national and international artists representing some of the most compelling voices in today's independent electronic music scene. Peruvian artist PSY will create a mural inspired by the biodiversity of the region, while the festival grounds will also feature a craft market, a food offering centered on traditional Galician-Portuguese cuisine alongside vegan options, regional wines, and a wellness program including a gong bath and talks on mindful nutrition. Integration with the natural environment is one of the festival's core principles. Festival structures will be inspired by organic forms, and the organization will carry out environmental conservation and clean-up initiatives, with particular attention given to protecting the wildlife and vegetation of Parque de Lazer do Açude. Terra Meiga aims to establish itself as a new meeting point for contemporary electronic music within the Galicia–Northern Portugal Euroregion, fostering meaningful connections between artists, audiences, and place through a cultural, sustainable, and long-term vision.
