Who said the underground scene had to stay strictly black? On the run-up to the launch of Marbella\u2019s newest venue, CLOUD9<\/a><\/strong> drenches itself in signature cobalt blue just in time for its debut this weekend on October 23rd and 24th<\/a>.   <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Following the crowd\u2019s orders to deliver more than just afternoon house sessions on the beach, the team behind LA SIESTA<\/strong> were left with no choice but to take the party into the night – and into the walls of a permanent new home in Nueva Andaluc\u00eda.

They officially spread their wings from an intimate 6m\u00b2 beach kiosk into a full-on club designed to prioritise quality sound, a speakeasy mood, a tight community, and an unpretentious \u201cjust dance\u201d ethos that deliberately turns its back on typical Marbella nightlife tropes.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To celebrate the opening, CLOUD9 is taking over two nights with a soundtrack spearheaded by guest DJ Rakim Under<\/a><\/strong>, alongside LA SIESTA Records residents and local heavyweights including Andres Rambaud<\/a><\/strong>, IKERFOXX<\/a><\/strong>, Sinto<\/a><\/strong>, Amoss<\/a><\/strong>, and SAINT ITO<\/a><\/strong>.   <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ahead of the opening, we caught up with the founders to talk about making the leap, ditching VIP culture, and building a true home for music on the coast. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For years, La Siesta built a community as an event brand. Making the leap from throwing parties in third-party venues to building and managing your own club is a massive step. What was that pivotal moment when you said to yourselves, “We need a home of our own, and we’re going to create CLOUD9”?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Honestly, our story didn’t start out as an event brand. Our very first home was a 6m\u00b2 beach kiosk: that\u2019s where LA SIESTA was born, along with everything we\u2019ve built since. From that original spot, we began bringing our energy and our sound to various venues, sharing what was happening down on the beach with a wider audience.

We were always limited to an eleven o’clock curfew, and whenever it was time to close, people kept asking for more. Over time, that demand\u2014coupled with our own drive to keep pushing the project further\u2014led us to take this next step.

That\u2019s how CLOUD9 came to be: as a natural evolution of LA SIESTA. We’re taking the leap into opening a nightclub, though we see it more as a social club: a home with different spaces where you can dance, chat, grab a bite to eat, or explore a different vibe depending on your mood. Music remains the common thread, and that sense of community that started at the beach kiosk is still at the heart of everything we do.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marbella has a very specific, globally renowned reputation when it comes to nightlife, yet CLOUD9 feels like a fresh, distinctive concept with real personality. What gap in the local scene are you coming to fill, and what sets the experience at CLOUD9 apart from everything else currently on the coast?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Marbella offers a massive selection of nightlife, but we felt there was a missing spot where you could simply go out, dance, catch up with people, and enjoy music in a more relaxed, unpretentious way. That was something LA SIESTA’s community echoed back to us time and again, too.

At CLOUD9, there are no VIP tables, bottle service shows, or dress codes. We want you to be able to come as you are and feel part of what’s happening. That\u2019s where the motto we\u2019ve been repeating throughout the whole process comes from: \u201cWe just want to dance.\u201d

What’s more, we get that not everyone stays in the same mood all night long. You can drift from the dancefloor to the speakeasy, have a proper chat, or grab a smash burger at CHICHA BURGER CLUB. We love that mix of atmospheres and people, letting everyone find their own way to experience the space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

When you own the door, the sound system, and the interior design, the possibilities are endless. What is that one production detail, design feature, or sound element at CLOUD9 that you’ve finally been able to execute exactly as you\u2019d always dreamt, without having to make the usual promoter compromises?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Rather than a single detail, it\u2019s about being able to design the whole space from scratch. When you take your concept to another venue, you\u2019re always forced to adapt to an existing layout, aesthetic, and way of running things. Here, we were able to start directly from how we want people to feel.

In the main room, for instance, the relationship between the DJ booth and the dancefloor matters immensely to us: we want the artist to feel close to the crowd and build a direct connection. The sound, lighting, and room layout all need to feed into that experience.

Then there\u2019s the freedom to bring distinct character to each zone: the cobalt blue, the visuals, the creative corners, and the speakeasy ambience. Being able to bring all those elements together under a unified vision is easily one of the things we’re enjoying the most.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The official opening weekend takes place on the 23rd and 24th of October. What can the crowd expect when they walk through the doors for the first time, and how does the musical selection for this launch reflect the club’s long-term vision?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

They\u2019re going to walk into their new home. We\u2019ve spent months imagining what it\u2019ll be like to see it packed out, how people will move between the different spaces, and what will happen when the first track drops. The opening is that moment where all that hard work finally makes sense with the crowd inside.

The musical direction builds on the sound and energy we cultivated with LA SIESTA, while leaving room to keep exploring. We want to blend local artists, residents, and guest DJs who bring their own distinct style and truly get the connection we\u2019re aiming for on the dancefloor.

Our long-term goal is for people to trust CLOUD9’s programming implicitly\u2014to come down to see a favourite headliner, but to be just as up for dropping in on a night where they don’t recognise every name on the lineup, simply eager to discover something new.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Building a club from scratch is a marathon, not a sprint. Looking ahead, what is the ultimate goal for CLOUD9, and what do you want people to feel when they step outside at dawn after a night on your dancefloor?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

We want CLOUD9 to become a destination people keep coming back to because they genuinely feel part of it. A place where music, creativity, and community thrive together; where artists want to return, and where connections and creative collaborations happen naturally.

The recording studio we\u2019re currently building is a huge part of that vision, too. We\u2019re really excited about creating a hub where music can be produced, ideas shared, and fresh talent given a platform, alongside hosting great nights out.

And as people head home, we hope they leave with a track they\u2019ve just discovered, an unexpected conversation, a new friendship, or simply that feeling of having been completely present for a few hours. At the end of the day, that\u2019s the feeling of home that began at our beach kiosk, and that\u2019s what we want to keep building at CLOUD9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
