The music industry has always been plagued by loopholes and unfair distribution. But it seems that slowly but surely we are seeing the light at the end of the tunnel with initiatives such as Support The Sound, powered by Aslice, a tool originally founded by Zak Khutoretsky (aka DVS1).

The project advocates for a healthy and sustainable future in electronic music and has been created by an international group of forward-thinking clubs, event promoters, and festivals including Basement (New York) and Bassiani (Tbilisi), Dekmantel (Amsterdam), Fuse (Brussels), 6AM and Synthetik Minds (Los Angeles), Vault Sessions (Amsterdam), Wire Festival (New York), and Womb (Tokyo).

The main pillar of Support The Sound inspires a new booking approach utilizing the community-focussed service Aslice to ensure fair compensation of music creators and producers. For 2024, all Support The Sound members have agreed to emphasize Aslice’s benefits to all booking agents and DJs, while putting their pledge into action by encouraging their resident DJs to submit playlists. Looking ahead into 2025, their commitment goes further as all DJs playing their events will be asked to share with the producers they play.

Support The Sound could undoubtedly change the game and the way in which producers have understood music until today on a global level. Together with Aslice, the commitment and acknowledgement for creators could lead to a healthier, more creative future, focused on what truly drives us all, music.
