Interview: Juanjo Tur, the newest member of the Fayer team

By Demi Mistry

December 27, 2017

Juanjo Tur is the latest addition to the Fayer family. Coming from Moraira (Alicante), his production skills make him a promising artist. It’s a matter of time before it becomes a reality.

For those who don’t know you yet… Who is Juanjo Tur?

That’s a good question. (laugh)

What is the idea behind the mix?

The idea is compiling/paying homage to some of the tracks I played the most this year as well as the ones inspiring me in the studio.

Can you tell us what are your biggest musical influences?

My influences are very different and pretty wide… My father influenced me a lot. From blues (my favorite genre), 60’s & 70’s rock, surf, disco, nu-metal and alternative rock. My favorite bands are Muddy Waters, The Rolling Stones, AC/DC, Franz Ferdinand, Muse, System Of A Down or Joy Division, among others. I also have to say I am a fan of Estopa (this comes from my mother).

Regarding electronic music, I would say artists or bands like Kraftwerk, The Chemical Brothers, Richie Hawtin, Recondite, Tale Of Us, Paul Ritch and many more.

Which are your favorite artists at the moment?

I am currently inspired by artists like Recondite, Fideles, Denis Horvat, Keith Carnal, Nick Devon, Tiga and especially Edu Imbernon and Henry Saiz from whom I am learning a lot and having a huge support.

And a breakthrough artist you think in 2 years is going to be a star?

It is hard to choose only one but I think there are many promising artists here in Valencia.

Being part of Fayer, what does it mean for you?

It has been my biggest musical achievement to date. I have always thought it was the best party in Valencia so every time I could I went to party there. They have always brought big artists with a very good musical approach. In the end what I really cares is MUSIC.

People don’t know you have a huge recording studio and you spend the most of your time there. What do you do at the studio exactly?

Yes, I have my own studio (Tars Studios) in Moraira. There, I do my music but also bands from around come to record their tracks and, sometimes, I organize small parties with my family and friends.

Last question, tell us your projects for the coming months.

Keep on working on the soundtrack of a movie which will be released next year, producing a rap EP from a friend and working with Mike Gannu -my partner in Fayer- in some new music..
