Back to school is also back to clubbing. And in Madrid, Goya Social Club comes with the homework already done, presenting a September that will leave its mark on the big city’s bustling dance nights. Its tenth season comes loaded with different sounds and a line-up full of variety and talent that will make you look forward to the weekend with all your might.

Living up to the street where it is located, just a few steps from the Velázquez metro stop, Goya Social Club has been on the radar of electronic music lovers for years. Its limited capacity has allowed them to build a loyal audience and an intimate atmosphere promoted by national talent with international flavours.

Those looking only for big names and industry figures will see no further. Something that doesn’t usually matter to those who truly appreciate the industry. At Goya you can dance to house, minimal, deep and tech-house, disco, soul, funk and all its sub-genres, often also in vinyl format. But who’s going to set the beat this September?

NIGHTS BY GOYA

On Fridays, Goya curates its own parties with top artists. After welcoming the season with the English trio Felon5 from the Bizarre Trax label, on 8 September they will welcome the legend Leo Pol, one of the artists who has been causing the biggest sensation in recent months with his house and jazz house vibes. His live session is an unmissable date to start the month.

On 15 September it will be the turn of Michael Gray aka Full Intention. A master of everything that moves between disco and house and a reference for labels like Glitterbox and Sultra. The icing on the cake will be Breakbot & Irfane on 22 September. This duo will offer an unprecedented night with a lesson in the Ed Banger Records sound and a musical selection that won’t leave even the most rookie of newcomers indifferent.

WHITE WIDOW

The jewel in the crown once or twice a month at Goya is named White Widow, one of the newest and most promising sessions in Madrid and Mallorca. It was born to make people dance under a mix of groovy melodies and minimal house, mixing local talent and world-renowned artists. It opened its season on 2 September with regular artists such as Carlos Abarca, Ito and Jorge Martin.

As the second half of their monthly selection, White Widow invites underground icon and vinyl wizard Liquid Earth. Keep an eye on them, because between now and the end of the year they have a lot of dancing to offer with several more dates.

ROOTS

On Saturdays, the Roots crew is responsible for getting you off the sofa and meeting up with your friends and family under the strobe lights. Roots has established itself as one of the emblems of Madrid’s underground scene. Since 2016 and with more than 300 events behind them, they have managed to export their sound to cities such as Paris, Barcelona, Ibiza, Valencia, London and many more.

The kick-off will be given by the Japanese Satoshi Tomiie on Saturday 9 September, one of the pioneering forces in the global electronic music community and a reference point in house music for decades alongside artists such as Frankie Knuckles.

On 16 September, vinyl takes centre stage with the local talent of ITO & Razboi, who will be taken over by Carlos Abarca and Jorge Martín after impressing on big stages such as the Sophie Festival. Roots closes an outstanding September celebrating 10 years of VBX with star resident Moulin, Ferro and Frank Hang on the decks, can anyone give more?
