Dax J, techno DJ and producer, has played the Muslim call to prayer during his set at Orbit festival taking place in Tunisia in the Guitone nightclub . A video recording was then posted on Sunday showing people dancing to the call to prayer, obviously attracting attention, prompting authorities shut down the club.
The well-known DJ & producer has apologized to the public: “I want to offer my sincere apologies to anyone who may have been offended by music that I played at Orbit festival in Tunisia on Friday.”…”It was never my intention to upset or cause offense to anybody.” Moreover, he had to remove his Facebook fan page after several death threats following his set at the festival.
The Guardian also reports that the nightclub’s manager has been arrested “for violation against good morals and public outrage against modesty.”
Orbit festival organisers apologised in a Facebook post on Monday, saying that Dax J did not realize “it might offend an audience from a Muslim country like ours”… and finished with a word of peace : “So my friends, forgive, love and do not forget that the music is the answer”.
