Berghain is without any doubt the most famous and exclusive club in Berlin. Thanks to its extravagant atmosphere and its groundbreaking sounds, the club has won a rare and unique fame, deserving, a few days ago, that the stolen drinks were offered for sale on eBay. It’s no myth that Berghain is a challenge to get into. Hoards of people have been turned away at the door, and many theories have been elaborated about which style and attitude to adopt to be allowed to enter the club. This myth pushed the photographer Vincent Voigner, along with his Italian colleague Barbara Bernardi, to realize a photographic project to immortalise people leaving the club.
The photographic project lasted two years. The two artists have waited on many Sunday afternoons outside Berghain and asked those who came out to pose for a few quick clicks. The series of photographs has been entitled Nachtgestalten, translated as “creatures of the night.” The total number of portraits are 40 in total. Here, we’re showing you 28.
