10 events not to miss this February in Barcelona

By Paco Cavaller

February 05, 2020

Barcelona continues to move forward. It’s February already. The first festivals, like Tupper, have been surpassed. Others, like MUTEK, are just around the corner. And the biggest ones, like Primavera Sound or Sónar, got their line-ups already announced. And, meanwhile, the best clubs and discotheques in town continue to make us dance weekend after weekend. Following the line we adopted in our Xceed DJs of the Year 2019, we left aside the rankings and just selected 10 dates, 10 events which, for one reason or another, are of special interest during the month of February in Barcelona. And we ordered them by date of celebration.

Fedele and more @ Moov·ida (Moog)

Fedele is one of the three members of the acclaimed melodic techno trio Agents Of Time. At the moment, the artist from Bari is taking his first steps as a solo producer and DJ. When the electronic music go down to Razzmatazz’s Sala 1, it’s because something big is happening. The visit of Digitalism in live format is already circled in the agendas of every clubber in Barcelona, especially those more nostalgic. The German duo can boast of having remixed institutions such as Daft Punk or Depeche Mode. Their songs are mixed by people like Soulwax, Justice, Boys Noize or Erol Alkan and, moreover, we have recently found out that their fourth album is on its way. High-flying electronic pop night ahead.

Ilario Alicante and more @ Swing (INPUT High Fidelity Dance Club)

When one has come to collaborate with Giorgio Moroder, it must mean something. We are talking about Ilario Alicante, a guy who has just signed in 2019 one of his best summers to date. He has become the confidant of the German Sven Väth, playing a leading role in practically all of Cocoon’s dates in Ibiza, and his underground sound, mostly techno, with a lot of groove and a nod to the classics, has led Ilario Alicante to also become a regular at Amnesia residences such as elrow. Furthermore, INPUT will be able to dance with him for 3 hours on this new Swing date.

When: Saturday, February 15thWhere: INPUT High Fidelity Dance ClubLineup: Ilario Alicante, Pau Guilera and Sergie

Sébastien Léger and more @ ZOË (CDLC – Carpe Diem)

ZOË is the new Sunday party at CDLC, a club that has long been calling for underground electronica. ZOË bets for a slow, friendly, low bpm electronic music of shamanic personality. Deep and ethnical house become its flag and one of the icons of these genres, Frenchman Sébastien Léger, will be one of the first to wave it.

An all night long session by the Catalan master John Talabot is never a bad idea, right? Under that alias (which he borrowed from the high school he went to as a teenager), hides one of the most valued Spanish DJs in the international underground scene. Draft party wanted to flood The Garage of The Bass Valley with tribal sounds, house structures, deep melodies, sweet electronica and sexy vocals in a night designed for real diggers. John Talabot was the ideal person for this. Seven hours ahead (yes, until 7:30 am) with him.

Vrilski (live) (Vril + Voiski) and more @ The Loft (Razzmatazz Clubs)

Vril appeared out of nowhere at the beginning of the last decade and immediately dazzled capos like Marcel Dettmann, releasing his techno productions in houses like Giegling or Forum. Voiski, on the other hand, has distanced himself from the sharpest techno to embrace softer proposals, with an electro aroma and a clear post-trance personality, betting on endless loops that embrace and hypnotize the audience. Their union in The Loft is a must for anyone looking to be on the cutting edge.
